• About Me

Stephen Maranian, a major general in the U.S. Army, is an accomplished senior executive who has distinguished his outstanding career as a servant leader by serving as one of the most renowned leaders and change agents in two key mission areas: international defence partnerships and strategy, and leader development/professional military education at recognized schools. Steve's knowledge is often required to address challenging organizational issues.

Steve has been the "go-to" for many difficult assignments requiring his coalition-building expertise with international defence partners or his innate skill at transforming organizations. His global defence expertise was developed over 17 years in Europe, Africa, and Asia, including deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait. He forges collaborative alliances as he applies operational leadership and business acumen to establish and carry out an organizational vision, strategy, and tactics. Steve is a change agent who creates resilient, high-performing teams whose activities are guided by a strong sense of values and ethical conduct. He does this by drawing on his impressive track record of success as a leader and great communicator.

    OCCUPATIONAL CAREER

Steve Maranian now holds the position of Commanding General of the 56th Artillery Command of the U.S. Army Europe and Africa, which has its main office in Mainz-Kastel, Germany. He was picked to be the first commander of this senior regional organization for Europe and Africa, growing it from fewer than 100 troops to a planned end strength of thousands with several sub-components. He is in charge of managing a yearly budget as well as $10+ million contracts for present and future infrastructure. He talks with and advises peers and senior officials on strategy and tactics in both artillery and effects, such as information, cyber, space, and electronic warfare, in a parallel advising capacity with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ally states.

Throughout his career, Steve Maranian held some prominent roles and had a big effect as a leader. He was often selected to head up and modernize centres of educational excellence. Most notably, he served as Commandant (President) of the Army War College, an authorized school that awards master's degrees. He developed innovative teaching strategies and changed the curriculum to enhance and personalize student learning experiences. Steve oversaw the successful effort to get accreditation to provide Master's degrees to all students graduating from the Command and General Staff Officers Course and a Bachelor's degree program for the Sergeants Major Academy while serving as the provost at Army University.

With a reputation for creating new organizations from the ground up, Steve creates innovative, implementable solutions, recognizes and maximizes the potential of more junior leaders, forges the connections required to bring about change, and offers the leadership and management expertise required to propel a new enterprise vision. He is eager to apply his knowledge to new problems in the future.
